Fill out online intake forms completely.
Our intake form is available online, so you can complete it in the comfort of your home before you arrive at our centre. It’s best to fill out the questionnaire completely and truthfully, as more information is better. The answers to the questions may be critical to your therapy and influence how the acupuncturist approaches the design of your unique treatment plan.
Wear proper clothing for your session.
It is critical to dress appropriately for your acupuncture treatment session. Loose-fitting clothing is often ideal for acupuncture consultations since the practitioner can ensure that the correct points are accessible and addressed.
Avoid Stimulants & Depressants, if possible, for 12h.
Before your appointment, avoid alcohol and drug use, including caffeine. During your session, stimulants and depressants can influence your ability to relax and heal. The recommended time frame is at least 12 hours without ingesting either. Avoid using alcohol or drugs following your session, as your body is still recovering, and we want to promote healing.
Don’t come hungry.
You may feel hungry during your session; therefore, eating a light snack or lunch is recommended before going to your appointment. A snack might help keep your hunger at bay, but watch what you eat because heavy, oily meals can irritate your stomach before or after your session. Remember that acupuncture is a time for relaxation and healing.
Avoid heavy, greasy foods and caffeine.
As noted in #4 above, a modest snack before your consultation is recommended, but avoid fatty or heavy meals. Heavy grease or a large amount of food may cause stomach discomfort during your session, resulting in exceedingly uncomfortable acupuncture treatment. It is also advised to avoid consuming heavy, oily meals or drinks at high temperatures before and after your visit. Clients should avoid caffeine before and after their session because it may affect their session quality.
Don’t brush your tongue for 24h.
It is also common practice not to clean your tongue for 24 hours before your appointment. This request may seem odd, but your tongue’s colour, coating, and texture can assist an acupuncturist in diagnosing.
